What Our Guests Are Saying

We spent our 4 year anniversary here and it was SO WONDERFUL! We could’ve spent so much time here! The tent was so dreamy, the bed was extremely comfortable (we even tried to figure out what kind of bed it was 😅), and we had so much fun paddle boarding and wading in the river! The only bummer was we stayed during a fire ban, so we weren’t able to enjoy the romantic fire pit space. Will definitely be staying again and I recommend this stay- 10/10

We had an absolutely great time here! It is beautiful and peaceful, they thought of everything. So many perfect details that we noticed while using the space. I am just very impressed by the entire experience. Bringing peace, relaxation and the feeling of being very well cared for back home. 100% will come back.!

We had such a great stay here! It was one of those places that just felt comfortable the minute we walked in. Everything was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. You can tell the hosts really care about making sure their guests have a good experience. My husband and I had a wonderful time, and it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy some time away. The views and sounds of the river and nature were so relaxing. The perfect place to unplug and rest! We'd absolutely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable place to stay.

River Ridge Retreat was more than we imagined it would be! We didnt want to leave! The host thought every possible detail to provide for the best, most comfortable experience and you could feel the heart behind that. This was absolutely the best, most memorable, luxurious "glamping" experience and we cant wait to go back!

What an "Offline Retreat" actually is.

Your opportunity to liberate yourself from your phone and partake in a digital detox.

We believe in providing our guests with an opportunity to disconnect from the world and reconnect to one another. To create that environment, River Ridge intentionally has no Wi-Fi.

While the majority of guests still do have cell service at our location, we have provided a variety of methods for you to comfortably put your phone away in a ‘phone box’ and go “offline” to whatever level they feel comfortable with, and maybe a step beyond.

Why it's so hard to disconnect

Does it even make sense to go offline?

While you may have the desire to disconnect and go offline, sometimes this can interrupt our normal way of life in unexpected ways. As soon as we’re disconnected, we realize how dependent we’ve become on our devices.

Conveniences that were previously there at the push of a button are gone. And although it’s nice to be removed from the constant buzzing of notifications, we quickly start to feel the panic associated with not having our those luxuries readily available. For example:

How will I listen to music?

How can I be reached for an urgent call?

What if I want to take photos?

The struggle is real – at first. Luckily, we’ve been working to solve these challenges for you…

We believe we've found the balance.

Through much consideration, we’ve brainstormed solutions to strike the perfect balance so that you can scale your disconnection and find the right level of “offline” for you. Here are some of the challenges we worked to solve for you:

Phone Calls

Connect your phone to our Bluetooth rotary phone so important calls can still come through. Then stow your phone away!

Music

Transport back to the 20th century with a retro AM/FM radio. Still need your playlists? Connect to our bluetooth speaker and control remotely.

Photos

One of the best ways to remember your stay is through photos. We provide our guests a polaroid-style solution.

Weather

When you’re camping, the weather report is often helpful. We leave you with the upcoming forecast for your stay and an onsite thermometer to monitor current conditions.

Tourism

We often use our phones to help us keep tabs on what there is to do in the area. To help with this, we provide you with upcoming events along with key local attractions in your guest guide.

Time

Ah yes, time. As much as we’d like to follow natural rhythms and cadences, we may never escape the need to know the time. For this reason, your tent is equipped with a simple clock.

A Few Other Solutions

Flashlight

We've thoughtfully lit your stay so that you shouldn't need a flashlight, even to use the restroom at night.

Contacting Your Host (Us)

Late checkout? More water? We're here for you. Just give us a call using the rotary phone and let us know how we can help. Prefer messaging through Airbnb instead? No problem - we can do that too.

Offline isn't Your Jam?

We don’t judge. Your connection with the network is 100% up to you.

Whether you want to be completely free of your phone, a little free, or not make any adjustments at all, River Ridge is an excellent getaway to reconnect with who you’re with. No matter what, you’ll both experience God’s creation in a beautiful place, while having many of the comforts of home at your convenience.

Truly a Sanctuary!

Peaceful pristine location right on the Pack River. Easy to find, everything was immaculate. From the bedding to the kitchenette to the box with toothbrushes and eye pillows. Not one thing wasn’t thought of for your stay. Would 10/10 recommend to anyone wanting a glamping experience in Sandpoint.
